OpenDataSavesLives: The Unconference

OpenDataSavesLives: The Unconference?

Our new type of institution is #RadicallyOpen, with a mission to build and create real impact, focused on sharing data and innovation to #savelives. To carry our #RadicallyOpen ambition forward we are planning a one day Online event that will bring together people from across health and care to share data, learning and innovation around key issues related to health.

Interested? Here’s how it will work:

There will be a Showcase in the morning with speakers including:

Dr Marcus BawChair RCGP Health Informatics Group, Freelance Software Developer, Locum General Practitioner
Tina Woods, Social Entrepreneur and system architect in Preventative Health, Healthy Longevity and Open Health Data/AI
Ed Parham, Director of Innovation and Design, Space Syntax
Dr Chris Bates, Director of Research & Analytics, TPP

Mohua Siddique, Business Development and Innovation Manager, Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust
Dr Rupert Dunbar Rees, Founder & CEO, Outcomes Based Healthcare

In the afternoon we will hold an Unconference. The agenda for the Unconference will be guided by YOU - the participants. All those who join will have the opportunity to put their ideas on the agenda, meaning the Unconference will cover the topics most relevant to YOU.

Our OpenDataSavesLives event series is proof that when we bring together people like this to tackle big issues in health we can drive more impact and save more lives. Coming together on 29th September this year gives us the opportunity to collectively shape what #OpenDataSavesLives does next.

More about OpenDataSavesLives

Overnight, COVID-19 dramatically changed the health and social care landscape, leading to vast challenges and the need for more and better collaboration. OpenDataSavesLives has been created to drive open innovation with data. Our aim is to help reduce health inequalities by creating, for the first time, a true network of collaborators and resources in the open.

We are radical in our approach - and hold ourselves to account. As the UK starts to build back better there has never been a more poignant moment to gather people at The Unconference around the radical solutions that are needed to tackle some of the UK’s biggest health challenges.

BLOG: NHS Digital’s Mental Health data

28 July 2021

Mental Health is a high priority for the UK government, with more and more focus on parity of esteem; that is, equally valuing mental and physical health care. Over the last decade NHS Digital has been working hard to develop, maintain and enhance information systems that can be used to inform policy and the public debate about the effectiveness of mental health interventions across England.
